Excerpt from “Corporate Crap” – Chapter 5: Exit Interviews

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out

This might seem an odd topic so early in the book. We’ve hardly
scratched the surface of most Corporate Crap and I’m already
talking about exit interviews?

The reason is that my first true brush with Corporate Crap
(besides having to dress each day like I was going to a wedding) was
my exit interview from Walgreens. I was there eighteen months—
June 1978 to January 1980—which was not atypical for a first job
out of college in the corporate communications field. But I’d have
stayed longer had they been willing to pay me a living wage, and as
a result, I was bitter when I left and let it all hang out in my firstever
exit interview.
